Great shots Juha. I can't recommend this event highly enough. Its like being in Cowfeeders collection except its all full size cars with some big names from the past. Very impressed by Simo Lampinen - his spirit and enthusiasm was incredible.

prob a simple explanation for it but why is there a pic of a mk2 comin towards us and a renault alpine heading away all in the 1 shot?

We have splits and merges on the mainland too, it's not something exlusive to airfield rallies.

Only one of the stages had a straight run. One stage had a section looped 3 times so you get great value as a spectator if you get a good spot. The drivers also get braver with each loop . It all adds to the spectacle. The 20 odd cars with V on their doorplate were "course" cars.

As a bit of useless information the YCD 998T Escort above was driven by Droogmans and belongs to Tom Geraghty in Waterford. Tom and Mickey Joe Morrissey were out there looking after it.

I've been going to this event since 2003, when it was still a round of the German series and the historics were just a tag along thing with 60 cars. The switch to historics has given this event a massive increase in popularity.

As ever Juha a fantastic set of photos. You do seem to be in the right place at the right time, every time!!!

I definately need to go in 2014.
