The pile of "to be done" models was getting out of hand. Spent a few hours today trying to put a dent in it by stripping 9 and spraying 7. No idea when i'll get round to picking them up again.

Looking good. I too have a pile of to do models that I hope to make a big dent in in the next few weeks. I wil be doing one at a time though, as Id loose so many parts if I stripped that many together.

Have you found your drying machine speeds up the process?

I find the paint sets a lot harder which makes it safer to carry out other tasks quicker but its subjective as i dont do a huge amount of paint work.

Yes - all the pro's use cut down Budweiser crates as spray booths. It's a trade secret so please don't share this too openly.

The trick is to use a new crate for each project. Emptying the original crate contents can be a drag....

Errrr, more like 2020! Was getting close to completing the WRC winners collection, and have made a good inroad in to the BRC one. Looked at the other rally models in my collection which didn't fit in to either of those two themes and came up with a new collection to start work on. But...... a lot of models have never been made so I've about 25-30 one offs to complete to make that new theme Just started work on another two models after a trip to Poundland to pick up a load of small plastic tubs to store all the individual stripped down pieces in.

Will probably lose interest half way through the builds......

Your eyes deceive you Donie - thats actually an Ascona. The Mk1 for the 1974 winner is sitting on a shelf waiting to be tackled - hope to get to that in about a month or so's time.

Hi Paul,

I also use the old cardboard box method of paint booth. Does that make me professional too?  scratch  Having picked up a commission on Saturday at the Lydden Hill World Rallycross meeting, maybe I am?!  jocolor

Thing is, I've already spent the commission on the purchase of another model!  cheers

I like your set up and especialy the model oven for paint drying. I use the low-tech method of drying the models at ambient temperature and trying to resist tinkering with them too soon. That's the most difficult bit, having the patience to leave them to harden off.

Hope you don't lose interest, Paul. Keep going at a suitable pace so you have time to enjoy what you're doing and not hack off the family by always being 'busy with your cars', which is an accusation I have levelled at me every so often! Difficult balance to reach and keep, but good luck and show us the end results.

Cheers, Steve
