Skoda Fabia R5 wins first time out!

The brand new R5 from Skoda had its first competitive run at the weekend on a round of the Czech championship with Jan Kopecky at the wheel and it won! Competition wasn't too shabby with Bouffier in a DS3 R5 etc and 2 litre WRC cars so it bodes well for the car even though the team boss thinks the tarmac set up is compromised due to the R5 regs!

Nice looking motor

good to see the return of another team, with toyota also in the main wrc mix in a year or two.....the more the merrier!

Skoda looks very nice and Mark will be a happy chappie, but I think the Porsches sounded lovely. We need more of them rallying in this country.

The MSA could either make the BRC what it should be, a tier 1 rally championship attracting wrc, r5, 2wd, gt etc event or ferk it up by making it a single format event 2wd just various classes as it was - rumours are its leaning towards the former which will hopefully spawn a future world champ and increase participation and spectator enjoyment

first customer cars

Baumschlager was always scheduled to be one of the first if not the first to get customer cars closely followed by Mr Loix! Neil Simpson is looking to get one in the UK and has an entry in for the Greystoke Stages in the car!

Looks nice in Red Bull livery and think the R5 looks even more aggressive than the S2000 machine.

However it looks totally crap as do all rally cars in gravel trim with those silly little wheels

if they so far sold 56.... thats a real contender for the 125 something Fiesta R5's in many years
so which one is the success?

on the other hand, I believe VAG group is doing a great job in motorsports! I feel they really bring a new level to motorsport with their cars and their marketing strategy. even their small but effective adds during the WRC events shows their different mentality and their approach to the sport....

I feel like with the new R5 almost same as their Polo WRC....

lets see what near future brings but I hope this time they will move a bit further and not stuck in ERC.... hope they will do the WRC2, Asia Pasific etc.....
