WHAT AN OFFER!!!!!!
i was contacted by a person from here (who is ok with me saying this but i wont memtion his name) regarding buying my collection of irish cars as a job lot. theres a total of 257 currently in my collection. they are all boxed up waiting on the house move at end of this month. pics where sent to this guy and an offer came back of £55 per model which totals a sum of just over £14000!!!! its a fair price and fair play to the guy for offering it but i have decided to keep the collection even if it wont be displayed till i get the new house built in a couple of years. I was very tempted to deal but it was actually diane (the mrs) talked me into keeping it!!! so women are not all bad! Anyway i look forward to hearing from your replys telling me i was crazy for not taking his offer or replys of congratulations for the collection being saved!

Re: WHAT AN OFFER!!!!!!
Morning Paul
That was a very good offer you had there, when I have been "bulk buying" in the past I haven't been near that sort of figure as an average across an entire collection.
As there are a high % of your own builds in there, it would be fairly straight forward to replace them with time most probably the biggest limiting factor.
You are now in insurance territory

Good to see the good wife talked sense into you. Fantastic offer BUT when the new place is built you will need to fill your model room with something.

Fair play to ya for declining offer!! Some offer at that
Wondering how many out there would/wouldnt refuse money like that at the minute?
Suppose it all depends on your circumstances.

If you sold them lad imagine the enjoyment you would have from wheeling and dealing in buying replacements!

Re: WHAT AN OFFER!!!!!!
Ask for £16,000. I used to hoard models but then realized how much money was tied up in them so I sold off the lot over time. Two years ago I was completely broke and when I looked around at how much money was tied up in stuff I did not use or really need it would have made the difference at the time to have the money rather than the stuff. £16,000 could help build you a nicer house or give you a smaller mortgage. Cash in pocket is a better deal as far as I am concerned.

Re: WHAT AN OFFER!!!!!!
Hi Paul,
Like many others here, I'm very pleased to hear yuo've passed on the offer, generous though it was.
Thing is, the models are worth more to you than money! It's the time and effort in finding them, paying P&P and/ or Colin's charges for painting the base models....... and how many of them are irreplaceable? Whilst having the dosh would be useful in the short-term, you'd forever be yearning to get some of them back. Life's too short to have regrets..... DON'T DO IT!
And much kudos to Diane for encouraging, ney, supporting you in keeping your collection in tact. Good on you!
I wouldn't dream of selling my collection! I've spent too much time already in painting and decalling my own Code 3 models to want to do it all over again! Some of my models are VERY hard to find and I doubt I'd ever be able to replace them, so like you, I would hold on to them.
If nothing else, Paul, it would be a good target for you to get the new house sorted as quicky as possible so you can display your collection once again. Hope that helps!! Cheers, Steve

Paul, you've made the decision
to keep the collection intact...
though the money was so very tempting
you've shown will-power, thats a fact;
when Diane proposed that you keep them
I'm sure you could have just kissed her,
with a wife like that, can i just ask,
has Diane got any sisters??!!??!!
