Happy Birthday Cowley!
Our very own 6R4 encyclopaedia celebrates his 50th birthday today. Congratulations David!
Re: Happy Birthday Cowley!
didn't notice it on the main page juha ,so well done m8.......have a great day david....think it deserves a wee verse...
Birthdays come, and birthdays go
Does David feel fifty? surely no;
He still has passion, still feels the fire
For those wee metros........he'll never tire.
And no dementia,
No advancing years
Will cause a vacuum
Between his ears.
He may forget his age, his name
He may get older, blind and lame,
But while others wonder
What lifes about,
They cry, they question,
They fill with doubt;
They ask the wise men
What should we do?
To gain lifes wisdom?
Give us a clue.
Our 'Cowley', fifty,
Sits and smiles,
'Cos he has travelled
So many miles
He knows the secret
He asks no more..
The code of life
Is 6R4!!!

Re: Happy Birthday Cowley!
Many many many thanks my friends - I am indeed most humbled by your sincere sentiments at such a milestone age! Sorry, but how old am I?
Billy mate... ...you've done it once again, and have excelled yourself with style. :cheers:Thank you very much for taking the time to pen that seemingly most appropriate poem. It is class I tell you, and your talents are clearly wasted on 'mere' models.
Chris (newt) mate... ...can I also thank yourself for the surprise little package that dropped through my letterbox today. Amazingly coincidentally, I have literally just had my Tomcat repaired after a five year hibernation, so your timing could not be anymore appropriate! Thank you mate.
Chris (Sal) mate...
I can also confirm that I am most definitely having a cracking day so far. Right then, now that the acknowledgements have been made, back to the pop....

Happy birthday David. Thank you for sharing you have had your tomcat repaired after a 5 year hibernation. If its any consolation, it can happen to a lot of blokes well before 45.
Did Chris send you a blue pill?

Thank you Noel.
Anyway, I'll have you know that this is my Tomcat!... ...and there's not a blue pill in sight!
Thanks again Chris - your timing was perfect!

Re: Happy Birthday Cowley!
Thank you Ted.
Thank you also Chris - it's certainly getting there slowly. It's been off the road for a while with head gasket failure - good old K Series hey? - but some of my recent redundancy has been spent on getting it fixed and back on the road for the last few weeks, possibly months, of good weather we have before it's locked away in hibernation over the winter.
Having been laid up for so long, I'm surprised there weren't really any other major issues with it. It sailed through it's MOT on emissions and bodywork, and only failed on the horn not working, and the SRS light on the dash - both traced to a snapped coupler tape behind the steering wheel.
The only other problem was that the fan motor wouldn't kick in when the engine got hot, which might have originally contributed to the HGF. Once a good secondhand one was sorted, and the coupler replaced, I was blessed with that well known piece of white A4 paper giving me a further 12 months on the road. When I came to tax it on Saturday, I couldn't believe the previous one had expired in July 2008!!!!!!!
