2012 Geko Ypres Rally

Not wishing to steal any of Juhas thunder as his photos are superb, here are a few I managed to take.

Eight of us went over to marshal this year so no chance to get any action photos. Sorry we didnt meet up Juha, but we had know idea where we were going to be until we got there. We marshalled on the test stage, Dikkebus and Kemelburg on the big jump.

So all these are taken in Ypres. The Lotus ran at the head of the field, the BMW and Porsche at the end.

Where were you on the test stage? I walked past a few British marshals on Thursday.

I see and heard also some britisch marschals in fluo yellow on the test kp and on dikkebus at the farm , and with a nice hat

On the test stage we were at the end of the service road. At the end, the stage came from the right then went a short straight to a 90 left by a house we were on the crossing point here. It rained hard for an hour? and the lightning was spectacular!!! We were standing next to a telegraph pole!!!! Mmmmm....

On Dikkebus we were on point 10, the major spectator point close to Ypres and others were on point 23.

On Kemmelberg we were on the junction before the big jump and I was at the jump. Nothing much happened at any point.

All of us were in orange tabards or jackets.

ok , did somebody drove a land rover

Yes one of the group were in a bronze coloured Land Rover Discovery, but not me.

There where two lads from our club marshaling.
That Cathedral in Ypres is magnificent inside.
Belgium is a gorgeous country and we will be back next year for Monteberg and Ypres

if you come to ypres , we could meet each other , so i see some lads from the uk

For our team it was the first time ever we had marshalled abroad.

We had no information about what we were doing until we got there, so this time I didnt make too many plans to meet up with you and Juha, just in case we could not make it.

Hopefully, we will be back in 2013.
