It's about time we had a NEW MG Metro 6R4 model from IXO - and here it is!

As part of their recent Facebook survey to see what models the fans wanted IXO Models to release, they have posted several photos this morning under the heading of...

"Had enough already? The "1000likes" model suggestions are being counted already".

One of the photos shows the long awaited Tony Teesdale 1986 Lombard RAC Rally MG Metro 6R4 - and about £@%#ing time too!

Great, I have 2 decal sets for that thing.

Did you notice it has clubman mirrors?

I can always use the decals for something else, but it's not exactly fun to throw away half of them.

I did notice the Clubman mirrors - we need to get a pair of them off undamaged, and get some cast in resin!

Sell the decals on eBay - QUICK before the model comes out in 2020!

Or build a model quickly!

Not that that will happen soon.

Maybe keep a set to see if Ixo got all the details right?

I've been waiting for this model for what seems like ages. Does this suggest it's getting near the top of the list! Any ideas of timescale? Before the end of the millenium? If so, which one?!

Like others here, I also have decals for the same car, but in my case, I'd put a pre-order in for the IXO version before buying my decals, so I only have myself to blame!!

Did Teesdale use the car on another rally, coz if so, we can make up rally plates for wherever would be approriate, and bingo, no duplicate! I'll try that on my wife when the time comes. I'm not holding out much hope and suspect the word 'anorak' will be included in the response from my better half! Oh well - sometimes the truth hurts!!

The 1986 Rally New Zealand was Tony's only other World Rally Championship event in the 6R4 - which Vitor has also produced the decals for! - but he also used it on a great number of New Zealand national rallies as well.

Here's my 1986 Rally New Zealand model that Vitor made for me, and it will be quite interesting to put them side-by-side when the IXO version eventually appears...

The number plate looks wrong though! It should be MT 8217 as per Vitor's!

Here's the real car, so let's play 'Spot The Difference!'...

I told you the Ixo wouldn't be perfect.

And even if we'd make models from NZ rallies, we'd still have decals left over. Unless we're starting from another base instead of this Ixo model.

Does David, aka our Guru, have any pics of his NZ outings in this car?

If I do have any Juha, there will only be one or two, and therefore probably not enough to create any event decals.

You never know. Google, Facebook and Youtube can go a long way.

Yes, the decals I have are Vitor's ones as per your model, David. Having bought ahem, a few, decals over the past couple of years, I couldn't remember where I'd got those from, but you're right, they are those of Vitor. So I can use them without duplication, which is good news. Happiness is....
