Tailight red
Does anyone know the best paint to use to replicate the paint used on tailights. I need it to be red, while still being a little transparent.

Tamiya claer red x-27
Paints clear lenses red while still leaving them transparent if you know what I mean. Best applied as 2-3 thin coats about 5-10 mins apart

Re: Tailight red
Try Humbrol clear cote red 1321 works very well, just recoat as required to achieve the correct effect.
Also Humbrol clear cote orange 1322 is good for indicators

Re: Tailight red
Whilst not giving a transparent finish, I've used a combination of red, white, orange and yellow Humbrol paints to get the exact colours I needed for my Triumph TR7 DHC model. I kept popping out to the garage to compare with the 1:1 scale model until I'd mixed the right colour on the back of an old biscuit tin lid (using it as a palette). I was very pleased with the result.
Now all I'm left with are the memories and a very accurate 1/43 scale model of my old car
You could experiement with decals printed on to clear backing paper until you've got the right balance of colour and transparency?

Re: Tailight red
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Went with tamiya x27 and it does a great job. Lenses turn out red, but with enough transparency to really look like a 1:1
