completely off topic but hey!!!

picked this up off denis biggerstaff tonight to see whats wrong inside it. its a spare 6r4 engine he used to run in the car but it went pop 1 day!

Great photo, it's so unusual to see one out of a car and more 'accessible'! I guess that a pop is slightly better than a bang? Maybe?? Is the V64V salvageable as a race engine?

Is Denis likely to see his 6R4 back on the rallycross circuits again, especially now the Retro Rallycross formula is up, running and gathering pace? Would be great to have a grid ful of 6R4s, the Delta Integrale, a Quattro or two, some RS200s and perhaps even a 205 T16? Makes me go all gooey just thinking about it!

pop/bang/wallop....there all expensive noises! lol

certainly cant see him on the rallycross scene again....him and stuart where telling me on monday night past that the 6r4 mighten even be seen much more on the stages....sort of getting to rare to race was his words and expensive to repair. the engine in her at the mo is leaking oil and a slight misfire on full song and a rebuild is needed on it,i would just know thats an expensive thing!

Hi Paul,

It's hard to argue against the 'too rare to race' viewpoint. Isn't a new/ rebuilt V64V around the £35k mark? That IS an expensive pop/ bang/ wallop!

Is a Rover V8 a possible engine swap? I know the engine is not the only expensive bit, of course. Even the original wheels are getting rare, hence Rob Gibson rallycrossing his on Compomotives last month! If people on eBay want to know the definition of 'rare' , they should look in your garage/ workshop!

they broke the front splitter off the car 18months ago and have been looking for 1 since with no joy,hence they are running the car with a made fibreglass 1. also at lurgan park they wrecked a front wing,lucky they had 1 left on the shelf but if it happens again.....where do ya find 1 of them!

Simple. I know a guy who makes bespoke fibre glass body parts. Sorted!
