Re: Ford withdraw support to M-Sport at end of 2012
another great news for the sport!
once again only 2 manufacturers..... one in one out
hope M-sport will have more chance compared to prodrive to continue with their sponsors.

So Ford finally decided they had enough of getting beaten every year for the last 30 years?

Re: Ford withdraw support to M-Sport at end of 2012
I was referring to the driver's championship. No-one cares about the other title, perhaps a few marketing boys.
Re: Ford withdraw support to M-Sport at end of 2012
Not really surprised to be honest. Results have been poor, and being constantly beaten by your rival is not a good showing.
Id like to see Ford withdraw for a few years and return with a full works team. Ford were never going to have a championship with M-Sport when a works team were involved.

Ford were never going to have a championship with M-Sport if it didn't receive proper funding. Citroën and Red Bull didn't invest peanuts.brian wrote:Id like to see Ford withdraw for a few years and return with a full works team. M-sport are carrying on in the wrc 2013 with the fiesta wrc and they will also run the new fiesta R5 in the irc/european championship 2013
the Fiesta RRC is baring fruit in the irc (which i will have the 3 fiesta RRC built soon)

MSport did a better job than the works team ever did, lots of if onlys too, Delecour should have had a drivers champ but for his crash in his F40
shame for the sport too, Citroen may scale back as well.

Loeb didnt destroy the WRC, the marketing (or lack of marketing) did, the sport was already in trouble in the mid 00's when Loeb was just starting to dominate, its bs to even think he destroyed it.

Very odd decision. Latvala has closed the gap to Loeb in terms of speed across multiple surfaces in recent rallies, Loeb announces retirement, then Ford pull out? Must be cost. It will probably come back in a 5-10 years, but too many events makes it cost prohibitive for anyone but factory teams.

I'm sure there are plenty of Focus and Fiesta models that haven't been covered yet.Cardy wrote:just realised this could have a major effect on my model collection

It had crossed my mind, using an Andreucci Focus.
