Re: Scalextric
1/32 is right, for the current models, but the older ones were a right old mix of scales! My TR7s are far larger than my Mk1 Escort Mexico. Cheers, Steve

I know what you mean there. I put up a scalextric set in my roofspace a couple of weeks ago. Seeing the old cars sliding their tails out like Mk2s is great fun!
Sadly though, my black BMW M1 that I have isn't working - knackered engine (motor).

Re: Scalextric
ah happy days!!!!
got 3 sets boxed up in storeroom, the m3's tail-out action was class, even better when we sprayed some wd40 on the bends, they would snake all the way up the straights once the tyres got a coat of the slippy stuff!!!
must admit the scooby was a bit boring, with magnatraction etc, never moved off-line at all ...... .............................. in fact just like my 1:1 scoob nowadays lol!!!!

Re: Scalextric
1:43 are starting to become very popular now donie.. especially with the code 3 boys.. theres a group on facebook for it.. run by an old forum member
Re: Scalextric
I used to put polystyrene tiles around the outside of the bends with some modelling plaster smoothed over the top so when the TR7s, Rover SD1 and the like got a bit sideways, they could carry on without the barriers in the way. Happy days!
Having bought the Gollop/ Schanche rallycross set, consisting of just the two cars, so not a 'set' as I knew it in the youth, I feel I must get the old gear out and clean up the tracks with Meths!
Cheers, Steve

I agree - 1/32 is the standard but 1/43 increasingly popular

Re: Scalextric
I must have abbout 150 cars, well over half have never been out of their box. My favourite as I mentioned is the M1, used to race it against Audi Quattro with the 4WD drive band.
