Moving house :(
I hope I don't have to move apartment once more with these little guys.....
It was such a pain to pack them and move.....
It took me more then two full days to pack and had to make 4 rounds to drive them to the new apartment....
and this is how they are at their new home....
now the next challenge is to move the shelves to new apartment and unpack the models, already tired thinking of

Very impresive lot there. Once you get them unpacked you will have to take some more photo's.
Where do you put all the empty boxes?

Moving house, hmmm did this about 18 months ago and moved the collection with the help of Lachlan. Took weeks of packing them in boxes. I decided after that I will they can bury me here eventually.

Wow Omer, i knew you had a great collection, but thats crazy!! And quality models as well. Never seen so many AutoArts before. Best of luck with the move. Ive moved quite a few times in the last few years and its always been a pain to move the models, and ive got no where near the amount you have.

- and it's double-trouble as well. The models AND the boxes!
My wife thoght I'd be displaying the cars in their boxes when I first bought my display cabinets. No way, Jose! I wouldn't fancy putting my display of 220+ models in their right boxes - would take me weeks I reckon. Well done for being so well organised, Omer.
Cheers and hope you get settled quickly in the new apartment, Steve

well, I guess you are luck Mal to have a mate who is helping you out and knows the value of a collection.Mal wrote:Moving house, hmmm did this about 18 months ago and moved the collection with the help of Lachlan. in the new flat, the study or let's call it hobby room is a bit smaller then the current one. therefore, the boxes are really going to be a problem which I dont know what to do with them.
and wife is in charge, and keep pushing me to get rid of the boxes
need some support from you guys to find new excuses I guess as the ones I have been using seems expired.

Re: Moving house :(
Excuses? Just think how difficult it would be to move the cars if you didn't have the boxes. Now you can put boxes on top of each other, saves the models from getting damaged.
I wouldn't have the courage to remove them from their boxes. I can't even be bothered to unpack my 1:43's.

Juha;
those excuses are for the wife not myself
I knew how important those boxes can be while moving house...
maybe can handle without boxes in the same city, but I am from Istanbul/Turkey who lives in shanghai.... one day I will go back and either the collection coming with me or on sale before I move back....

They are excuses for the wife. No boxes means damaged models and a loss of money, now I'm sure she doesn't want that to happen?omer yetis wrote:those excuses are for the wife not myself
Re: Moving house :(
hahaha she already thinks that these models themselves already loss of moneyJuha wrote:They are excuses for the wife. No boxes means damaged models and a loss of money, now I'm sure she doesn't want that to happen?omer yetis wrote:those excuses are for the wife not myself

Re: Moving house :(
Omer, just tell her you have no problem getting rid of the boxs if she gets rid of one shoe from each pair. We buy models and they buy shoes.

Re: Moving house :(
Collecting models wouldn't be a complete experience without the wife giving you grief.
Thinking up ways to get the latest past the missus was a full time pursuit for me.
At one point I'd even sneak down the back lane with my latest box, hide it in the shed, then go back up the lane and come in through the front door "Hi love nice day?"
I'm not nearly as bad nowadays as now she's on shift work it's just too easy

Re: Moving house :(
Crikey! I thought it was just me!
It is a bit of a game, but its started to take the edge of the collection when my wife doesn't seem to appreciate it and gives me 'one of those looks' when she spots a new model in the cabinets or a parcel waiting for me by the front door .
I guess she has a point - with 20 6r4 models waiting for me to Code 3 them and a handful of others waiting the same treatment, plus goodness-knows how many unbuilt kits in their boxes.... she may have a point!
She doesn't know about the Teesdale 6R4 that's been despatched to me today nor the Austin A35 convertible model coming from Holland!
Wish me luck, guys! Cheers, Steve
