Trip to Dublin
Hi Guys,
Andrea and I are going to Dublin on Saturday for a long weekend.
Is there anywhere we definitely should go while we are there and can anyone recommend any good restaurants?
Thanks
Phil

Marks models is a nice little shop to get into if your around that way, they had a good few rally models when i was in there in early january. Not exactly cheap, but when you factor in postage when buying online, they are not too bad

Guiness storehouse Phil.
Plenty of eating houses down in Temple bar which is just off the city centre. Just mind the hens and stags
Dont think there are any pink sierras there!!

Forget Dublin - hire a car and come on down to Mayo where the second round of the Irish National Rally Championships is on on Sunday.

Great idea James.
Drop herself in Galway Phil. Plenty of shops there. Go down the n17 for 3/4hr an there you have all the action.
Forget Dublin the west is the best

Re: Trip to Dublin
Pubs for good Guinness:
McDades
Keoghs.
Mulligans
The Palace Bar.
Good food with good value:
Gotham-South Annes Street-beside Keoghs pub.
WAGAMAMAS.
Good spot to bring the lady-Upstairs of Fallon and Byrnes but you need to book.
Good coffee shops for Lunch-Simon's place on Georges Street, Brubakers near Nassau Street-house special is the Brubaker sandwich.
Scenery-if you have a car-Drive out to Dalkey-and park-walk up the VICO road to Killiney hill-great view-then a pint in Sorrento house. If no car take the DART to Dalkey and walk up......then have two pints in Sorrento house.
Culture: Dublin Castle.
History-Kilmainham jail thought the tour guide is a bit anti British.
Dublin zoo is a nice spot on a Sunday.
Music-get a local listing.
STAY OUT OF TEMPLE BAR AS IT IS A KIP FULL OF DRUNKS

Re: Trip to Dublin
Don't worry I will be on my best behavior.
It's funny, I mentioned to Andrea the suggestion of going to this rally and she was dead keen!!!!!!
That was until she realised it was like 3 1/2 hours away. Bugger!
Oh well, shopping it is then although she has said we can go over for a rally in the future

But its a lovely drive, and you get to see the lovely countryside , and all the healthy fresh air, and the friendly country people, and the organic food , and the craic in the country pubs, and the noisy smelly rally cars and and and...........................

Re: Trip to Dublin
Just back home from a lovely weekend over there.
Enjoyed Dublin, the shops, the pubs and the music. Visited the jail and today we went on the Dart to Dalkey.
Only negatives were the number of foreigners and the price especially for food etc.
Next time we are going to try and catch a rally and see some more of the Island and scenery etc.
Cheers

Re: Trip to Dublin
Forget Dublin guys - cheap flights (ha ha) with Ryanair to
Kerry - early May for Rally of the Lakes and see Killarney and Kerry, first weekend in April for Circuit of Kerry and see Dingle
Cork - Paddys weekend (next weekend) for West Cork Rally or late Sept/early October for Cork 20 rally and see Cork
Cork Kerry and Shannon are within an hours drive of most of the rallies in Kerry,Clare,Tipperary,Carlow pretty much everything in the South of the country.
Knok will cover the west coast
Dublin the midlands and east.
Belfast the north.
Well worth coming - most of us don't bite - at least not when we are sober.
