Whats the story with this McKinstry car

Anyone know whats the story with this car. Did McKinstry ever actually drive it or is it a fictional car. I found the pictures on a Japanese site, seems like a lot of effort for a car that never existed. I cant say Ive ever seen it before but I like it. Really hoping it competed ....

Open to correction but I don't ever recall Robbie having sat with Kenny in a Group A Subaru. Try googling the decal company on the rear window. Number plates look a little strange. Could have been a mock-up.

Have a look at e-wrc and you can see that there was a gap between Kenny and Robbie ending and Kenny sitting in a Gp A Subauru - Philip McCrae and noel Orr filled Robbies seat.

The place I found the photos produce vinyls for 1/1 cars, but as its Japanese company (or at least their website is in Japanese) I had hoped they were making a replica of a car that rallied. Strange for them to have chosen a car from over here to replica if it is fake. Theres a gap in my knowledge of Kenny between his F2 Escort days in 96ish and gold Impreza WRC from around 99/00.

Of course they could just have used his Legacy as the inspiration for this fictional car.

Brian, Its highly unlikely that anyone would go to the expense of making a blank Manx Rally plate for the door when the organisers would issue the genuine doorplate for the event with sponsors etc.included.
