All things taken into account? At least he didn't have to listen to the appalling commentary on Motors TV!!!

Re: Boucles de Boulogne 2016
Thanks guys!
It was very hard work and very rewarding to climb back to 11th after dropping to 40th place on Saturday. We got a trophy for being fastest over the Sunday leg, ahead of Munster and Märtin. Chuffed to bits with that one. Paul can peddle an Escort alright!

I'll share some incar footage later today.

Stage 13, fastest overall:

Stage 14, second overall behind former RAC winner Stefaan Stouf:

Stage 16, finally reaching the 80 kph average, hence me shouting to stop.

Sorry for the swearing at times.

Excellent - wasn't the accent I was expecting to hear Juha!

I'd show you some incar of me reading notes in French but it's not on Youtube anymore.
Re: Boucles de Boulogne 2016
I think the absence of an accent is more the point! Did you live in the UK previously?

Re: Boucles de Boulogne 2016
No, never lived abroad. I've spectated on 12 UK rallies, 12 rallies in Ireland, and made one school trip to London. I think it adds up to 60 days in total, that's it. My family speaks Dutch, there's no English being spoken in this area either. However I did spend hours watching British sitcoms and Top Gear. Foreign programs aren't dubbed in Belgium so I picked up a lot. I've also held a subscription to Motorsport Magazine since I was aged 12.
I found the French incar again! Vincent Bouchat and me in a Clio RS, fastest overall on this stage:

Thanks!
I seem to lose my accent completely. I was playing some incar in the background last year and my own mother didn't recognise me, she's not used to hearing me speak anything else other than Dutch.

What's the purpose of the Passage Control mid stage?

Re: Boucles de Boulogne 2016
Juha will correct me if I'm wrong but technically its a regularity event or to be more precise two events, one for the "stage" prepared cars at an 80kph average and a second for roadcars at a 50kph average. So when we were there a few years back in Spa you had 300 competing cars on the move - 150 in each section.

Re: Boucles de Boulogne 2016
That's correct, but the 50 kph average part now runs at 60 kph.
And even if "regularity at 80 kph" might not sound like a true rallye, it's not easy to reach. Out of 18 stages only 7 were cleaned by at least one car. We managed it on 1 stage and were within 2 seconds on 3 others. On Sunday's 6 gravel stages, only the third one was cleaned by Stouf, Pearcey, Verreydt and yours truly sitting with Paul Griffiths. Except Verreydt those drivers have a few RAC podiums under their belt.
It's a shame we lost a bucketload of time on Saturday because we wouldn't have been far off the top 5. We'll try again next year.

Re: Boucles de Boulogne 2016
Do you get penalised for "cleaning a stage" ? Any regularity I have ever done you have a theoretically exact time to be at each point along the route therefore if you were early or late you got penalised.

Just watched some of the really awful Motors footage and apparently Paul Griffiths was co-driven by someone called Julia according to the commentary

Re: Boucles de Boulogne 2016
There are no intermediate time controls in the 80 kph section, only at the finish. In our case cleaning a stage means passing at 0 at the flying finish, not early, not late, hence the panic at the finish in this one at 6.55:JOB wrote:Do you get penalised for "cleaning a stage" ? Someone's making a model of the Escort, 10 of them (it will be on Minilites, not the white 15" wheels). If anyone wants one, they're €65 each (+ postage).
