New Section - Adverts
Just seen a new feature has become available to use so let me know your thoughts on it. It works like ebay where you can upload images of anything you have for sale that forum members may be interested in. This includes things like models or rallying memorabilia etc. Not a pair of shoes you have never worn
All ads will need to be approved for now until I figure out how to let them upload automatically. Currency is in British Pounds, PM for Euro price if needed. Please include postage costs for Ireland/UK in the post.

Pretty sure ts the same as ebay, phots need to be on the device you are uploading from. Easiest to use your phone tablet as you can take pictures directly

When you click on a new advert in that section, it will allow you to choose what photos you want to use. You dont have to upload them to the site first to use, you can upload directly to you advert

Re: New Section - Adverts
Good morning Brian, and many thanks on sorting out the necessary IT to provide us with yet another very worthy feature to the forum.
As nobody else has appeared to have used the new advert section since you launched it, I thought I would give it a try this morning. Here are my findings...
1) My advert does not seem to have been posted, does not appear to be visible on the forum homepage, or when you click on the Ads For Sale section? The section appears in red as if there is a new thread or contribution to view, but there is nothing showing apart from your test post, and that has been red ever since you first posted it - even though I have already viewed the Ford Escort RS Cosworth trial advert.
2) After I verified that I was a human and not a robot, the following Google advert appeared in the same window prior to me submitting the advert...
No criticim intended, I just assumed you would prefer to hear of any glitches rather than not.

Re: New Section - Adverts
Just popped up a test ad to see if it works or not. I wonder is there a size limit on the pics that could cause the issue
Re: New Section - Adverts
All ads need to be approved so they wont show right away. Im still looking to see if theres a way where they dont require approval at all and will show straight away.
The captchas are very poor and are pretty confusing. The ad that shows is crap as well considering we are paying not to have ads on the page.
Still a work in progress so keep the comments and testing coming.

Re: New Section - Adverts
It's still all over the shop, I wonder would a different template for the ads work. I have a motorsport forum for club events and set up the ads section a while back but never tested it. Popped up a couple of ads earlier and they seem to be working http://targasandtrials.forum-board.net/f17-classified-section.
Looked in the settings for mine earlier and I think you have to get Admin/Moderators to approve the ads

At least my feckin' photos were the right way round, and my price realistic!Speedy wrote:Testing the setup to see if Mr Cowley did this right or wrong
Re: New Section - Adverts
I've also noticed that the BB coding that I've used within my advert doesn't work either, Brian.

Don't think coding works in the ads sections on these forums, tried to put a link on to the ad in my forum and it does't create a clickable link

All I can see is a FROZEN doll. Feel like bursting into song now! "Let it go, let it go!"

Bit of an update on this, just looked at the adverts section on the phone and it displays ok, thought the problem may have been resolved but it is still acting up on the laptop on Opera, the ads look ok in Google Chrome

Well the "Frozen" dolls have gone now so it's going in the right direction
