Word of thanks
Hi all
Not wishing to put a downer on the New Year but just a quick note to say many thanks to those forum members who sent me messages of support over Christmas regarding my father. Sadly he passed away peacefully yesterday evening at home but not in pain after receiving great care from local nursing teams. Obviously things are a little raw right now but visiting places like this is proving a nice release from all the involved paperwork and emotions so please excuse me if you see the odd rambling post from me over the next week or so!
Cheers
Chris

All
Many thanks for your kind wordsds especially as most of you have gone through something similar. Things are going ok now that we have overcome the slight hurdle that my parents hadn't discussed having a funeral. My dad being the practical Yorkshireman didn't want a fuss and couldn't see the point as he wasn't going to get much out of it. Think he expected me to bury him on my allotment!
Cheers

Thanks again all. I really appreciate your messages.
Funeral is this Thursday so guess that's when it will really hit me.
Having said that off to Croft for the Jack Frost stages on Sunday so normal life will be resumed!
Cheers

Re: Word of thanks
Guys
Just to say the funeral went really well, even the sun came out between the snow showers! Managed to read out my eulogy and the poem without blubbing and apparently did the old boy proud so am starting to get on with everyday life. Thanks again for all the kind words.
Just one thing that stuck with me from last Thursday. Its very easy in today's world not to make time for friends and family and sometimes the only chances you get to meet up are at events like funerals. Without sounding like I'm preaching please don't put off spending time with those you care for as you never know if you are going to have another opportunity....
Right back to the normal reasons I come to these here shires!

Sorry for your loss Chris. As a cancer patient since May 2015 I had an episode which nearly ended all before Christmas. I agree totally with you.

100% endorse your comments about time with friends and family, Chris.
Well done for holding it together during the eulogy. I know from my own, quite recent experience that however experienced you are in public speaking (in my case I do a lot, sometimes whilst singing and dancing on stage too!!) you can't be sure you'll be able to start your eulogy, let alone finish !
I hope things settle down quickly. It's a useful thing to plan some events/ visits etc to look forward to in the coming weeks and months....
