******INVITATION****** HELP ******** Mondello 50
We have recieved an invitation to put on a Model Show in Mondello on !2 & 13 May (next weekend) at Mondello 50.......Its a Festival of Speed type of weekend...........so seeing as we are all into the Rally Models and the fact that we will be on a Motorsport Stage we will show off some Rally Models......So instead of trying to bring people who are Motorsport minded to a Model Show here we are bringing the right type of model to a grroup of people with the same mindset as ourselves............MOTORSPORT...
WE are looking for some one or a few people to Display Kris Meeke Models and some Craig Breen Models as they are quiet scarce in our collections..............anybody willing to display please contact me at 086 8545873 so we can reserve some space for same............

Re: ******INVITATION****** HELP ******** Mondello 50
Hi Donie, all I have is the Barum s2000 car for Breen, which is one of the more common ones. I dont even have a Meeke 6r4 that I built loads of as I never got around to building my own one.
Looking forward to loads of pictures of the event, wont be able to make it myself as Ive nothing prepared, everything is in the loft still

Re: ******INVITATION****** HELP ******** Mondello 50
Fair dues to Donie, James & Ross for a mighty collection over the weekend. One of the highlights was Rosemary Smith turning up to view JOB's collection of her cars. And what a collection! I was taken aback at the range of cars Rosemary drove throughout her rallying career - and most of those on display would have been from international rallies - Monte, East African Safari, London-Sydney, Coupes des Alpes, Acropolis. I think Rosemary was rather taken aback as well - there were some cars/rallies there that she had forgotten she had competed in while others were bringing back very fond memories!
Donie's and Ross' displays were just as impressive. Donie's Coleman collection included many from his international career - Monte, Poland & Acropolis mixing it with British and Irish rallies going back to the Mk 1 Cortina. Ross' mix was varied but as enjoyable and I hope the pics do justice to the effort the lads put into it. Enjoy.

Well done everyone on a fantastic display.
Its nice to see the older cars and the variety of cars that drivers actually drove back then, before contact obligations took over.
So whats next......???

Great set up and collection lads. The one model standing out for me is the ford capri. One could argue that it was the most viewed rallycar in Ireland for a good few years.

Beat me to it Maurice, great to see a model of the Capri. Such an iconic part of Irish rallying

Re: ******INVITATION****** HELP ******** Mondello 50
It was an awesome display, just a pity it was so far away from the main activity and no signs up to guide people to it, one of the suites upstairs would have suited it better.
While the concept of the weekend was a great idea I feel the execution of it lacked from the hype. Chatting to a couple of people who tagged along with a friend of mine they said they were hugely disappointed with it and not much info or announcements over the public address.

Speedy - many thanks for the photos . My tablet wouldn’t charge in the car on the way there so I just took one solitary photo with my phone. Donie had 50 + Coleman models and Ross 80+ Irish models. I brought a couple of others that might catch peoples eye.
The organizers did realize their mistake when it was too late of where we were sited but the plus side was we had time to chat with Rosemary and Billy’s manager Tom without them being hassled by others. There were a number of phone calls made in the run up to the event by Donie and others asking that we be put closer to the centre of events but those in charge "knew better" so it was out of our hands. That said I enjoyed the day and more particularly the people who called to see us as they had to make an effort to find us and so we were spared the bold kids with the dripping ice creams and daddy asking if he could buy one of our toys to keep the kids quiet brigade.
Well done to Donie and to Ross for doing all the donkey work on Saturday getting the whole lot set up - I just swanned in on Sunday morning.
There is a book coming out on Rosemary’s life and career in Sept so keep an eye out for it.
As for Chris’s question we have been asked back to Gowran Park in July when the guests of honor will include Russell Brookes so the Brooke’s collection will get wheeled out and possibly added to . In that regard I know I don’t have the black Texaco ? Sierra he ran towards the end of his career so if anyone has a spare one or comes across one please let me know . Also I would love to hear from anyone with photos, particularly from his early days in Mini's and Mk1's etc. as those are the photos that the drivers love to see - no doubt he is thankful to Andrews but there was life before and after HFH.
Anyone know anything about this - just found it on ebay ? Was it an original Corgi issue or did someone add decals ?

It was a Corgi issue James. Not sure what scale but larger than 1/43

Re: ******INVITATION****** HELP ******** Mondello 50
Ted/Peter do either of you have photos of Donies Coleman collection or Ross's Irish collection ? They were really impressive. 50 Coleman models is a very unique collection and Ross's variety was amazing. There was a small "Departed friends" section which unfortunately keeps getting bigger, a Chevette section, a 6R4 section, F1 display and the beginnings (20 odd models) of a Rally Ireland 2007 display.

Carlo is now doing decals of the Coleman Monte Porsche. That model was one of just two made by realcarmodels in Hungary. i know the Acropolis was on ebay recently albeit incomplete. The other two you will have to ask Donie about.
