Sad News..

Just heard this morning that Jim Porter has passed away.

Jim navigated for Roger Clark on many rallies and he also navigated for Timo Makinen, Ove Andersson and Hannu Mikkola in the 60s and 70s. He missed both Roger Clarks RAC Rally wins as he was Clerk of the Course on both events.

For us olduns Roger and Jim were our heroes way back then. I only met him later in life and built many models for him. To have him sitting in my living room talking about rallying and the old days was fantastic, all the stories.

I asked what was his biggest regret - not agreeing to navigate for Hannu Mikkola on a regular basis!!! Wow.....

A modest man, Ford thru and thru, lots to tell but never saw it as something others would be interested in.
