Repainting IXO Empty Repainting IXO

I'm thinking about repainting some of the current IXO 1/18 MK2 Escorts to use for other projects

Would they need stripped to bare shell (not sure if they are metal)

On another note has anyone tried removing the decals from the yellow rothmans MK2?

steven i dont have any of the ixo escorts, but i believe they are metal.. also, if youre repainting, dont worry about decals, coat the whole thing (minus plastic parts) in nitromors to take back to bare metal, then primer and top coat whichever you choose... nitromors will ruin plastic and acetate parts... the biggest pain is removing all the tiny plastic components... i guess if you didnt want to do that, you could carefully use dremel to sand/buff back to bare metal or at very least the base coat... before repainting... this would save removing and potentially breaking or losing the wee bits, but youd then have to mask them before repainting...

I use a combined mix of Nitromors and white spirit as Nitro on its own is slow and inefficient
