Re: upscaling decals
That should work Billy - just as long as you're happy to waste the sheet of 1/24 scale decals in the process?
Re: upscaling decals
thanks david, aye i know but our scanner at work is a good one and produces really sharp copies, so i could reproduce a set on blank decal paper first, then sacrifice the originals......the white bits are the problem, there are a couple of words on white, plus 4 cibies, also white......not sure what to do about that? changing the background colour to a creamy colour would prob be ok, as it wouldn'tstand out among the lettering, on a white car......hhmmm
thanks m8

Re: upscaling decals
There is also another way in Photoshop - The replace color command.
In Photoshop select the image pop down then Adjustments and then Replace color
This brings up a diagog box - use the eye dropper tool (top left selecton tool) and click on the image colour that you want to remove (the greyish colour) Adjust the 'fuzziness' to suit. Then push the bottom (Lightness) slider all the way to the right. This will turn whatever colour you have selected to white. It might take a few goes to get all the variations of grey to white.

Re: upscaling decals
Just done the maths and its 1.3346 enlagmrnt
If the 1/24 is 100% then the decals have to be enlarged by 1.3346 to get them to 1/18. However it may take a bit of tweaking and the enlargement factor it might be 1.34 or 1.32 to get it to scale. I enlarge decals by inserting the image onto a word document page and then drag the corner to enlarge the sheet. You can then print up the page on paper to check the scaling. against the model. You can tweak the image by making it smaller or larger and when the size is right then print on the decal paper. Dont forget to save the page document so you are left with the base sheet otherwise it will be lost. The other thing is that if you have the word document open in a window similar to the way it is shown in the picture what you see on screen is as good as the size you need-simply put the model against the screen and check the size of the logo against the model. This works for me. The page shown below is virtually the actual size of the page when it is printed.

It has occurred to me to make a Zakspeed transkit-arches pieces that simply stick onto each side of a Sunstar Escort and make up decals. Am amazed Sunstar have not done this themselves!
