Hmmm.... Sounds like Simon Woodside's BMW. This might ruffle a few feathers as well...

Re: New Irish Models
Some load of crap in here today lads.
What happened with the Mchale car was unfortunate, but its too late now. There have been so many Irish models done its nearly impossible to keep up to date. Why should he have to ask on here if its been done, remember this is a forum to discuss models, not a place to regulate them.
KMD announced the Meagher cars years ago and it still hasnt been released. They are fair game now for any builder in my opinion. I have them pre-ordered with KMD too, and look forward to them, but until the run has been started then they are fair game.
Just because 2 Ian Greer cars have been done, who says more cant be done. He competed at the sharp end of the ITC for 2 seasons, loads of other events to chose from. There is no one here who can dictate what models builders can do

Yes indeed.
He can do what he wants for sure
But doubles only devalues everybody's collection.
And that's my final word on it.
I'm not in the habit of washing the old skids in public.

Re: New Irish Models
I agree completely with Noel. If more models are made of the same car, why bother making it a limited edition run at all?
The Meagher cars are fair game I would say. If they are going to get made but will take years to release, why not let another model maker produce them. Everybody's plans and circumstances change.
As for the Ian Greer models, I agree with Steve to an extent if he has a contractual agreement to produce Ian's cars. There are plenty of other Irish models which could be made without pissing others off.

One thing I will say is I have been here before when the KPL Focus come out. I didn't know PJ was doing the Galway 07 car and I would like to think he didn't know I was, but the difference between mine and his was mine was correct decal wise.

Yeah Mark, I know what you're saying. I bought your Lurgan Park car years ago and bought PJ's Galway car - there definately are differences between the two models.

Yep the KPL focus was a good seller but could have been better had PJ not done it too and a very poor version at that
Bit of a slip up on his part tbh

I wouldn't blame PJ's model from hindering any sales as i think it sold very well.

I would work it out as each sale he got was a sale less for me so it did hinder my sales and gave me less back when I put a lot of money out for base cars and decals prob close to a 4 figure sum

Re: New Irish Models
i only get on here now for a short time late at night (big push on now to get the new house sorted).
my views on this is i agree with bits from each of the previous posts,as 99% on here know i sold the collection few years back and have steady got it back again to what i consider a nice (and hopefully valueable) collection of 269 irish models.
i have paid top bucks for quite a few of my more sought after models in the collection, these being kmd mostly (not taken anything away from the other builders on here,i like all my models)but the more rarer kmd models such as fisher mk2,mckinstry sierra, greer's 2 toyota's etc etc and it's not so nice when you see/hear the models are been re-made for a fraction of what you paid, but as said before no-one can really have the sole rights to do what they want in this life....its a free country and is really all down to people having manners/common sense.
as stated kmd has said he will do all the meagher cars when he finds time (personally speaking this may take years to complete),i have my name down for them all from kevin but as an irish collector i prob would still buy built model/decals from another builder if it was availalbe, complete and well built.
ireland has had some of the best cars/drivers in the world over the past years and really there is no call for any doubles to be made,so so so many more models could be made of cars yet un-done out there and would be fab sellers!
my rant over!

Re: New Irish Models
.
I don't think everyone should be jumping on Peter about his double up's as there are many out there doing the same,
He has produced some nice models and has them complete unlike these other decal men who release decals that are not,
If a builder says he is going to do a model and hasn't even started it after a year or so then I'd say that model is fair game for anyone else to do,
Model collectors who prefer to collect from certain builders can hold off and buy that model so another one coming out shouldn't make a difference,
It's not just the model that holds value it's the builders name on the base plate,
If I was to do a run of Fisher Impreza's using decals from Carlo then we all know there's no way they would get the same money as Kevin's models,
The one's that I put out onto the market would not effect the price of the original, it would just fill a gap in the cabinet of a collector who can't get the original,
As for builders saying they have asked a driver for permission to do his car as a model is going about it the wrong way!!
For them to have the rights to do it and stop anyone else from making another one they would need to get the driver to commission the builder to make a run,
Even then after getting a driver to commission a run of models it would be up to the driver to stop anyone else form doing it,
I've always said that builders and decal men should communicate and work together so there are no double ups and it would also be cost effective,
3 builders could share the same event with 3 different models tripling their order with a decal man,

Re: New Irish Models
Well said Colin. Sense at last.
If it comes down to stopping people doing certain models it will need copyright and that will be a ballache to get.
I have no problem with people doing doubles as sometimes people can't afford to buy the dearer models and as Colin said, if Peter does a run of 20 cars that Kevin has done already, it will not detract the value as it has KMD on the base plate.
Yes i agree there should be more communication between people but i do think that Peter has been treated quite harshly over this matter and should be given a break.
I have bought from him and he produces quality models as do SRS, Mark, Phil, Noel, Alan and anyone else i haven't mentioned. Your all very good at what you do and collectors would be lost without you.
It's all about communication. It always lets us down.
I feel a song coming on............................
P.S. This is just my opinion and has no intention to P#*s anyone off. So if it does Sorry

Re: New Irish Models
Regarding permission I asked John Waring if it was ok if i took pics as i would like to a model and he was chuffed. i offered him a free model and he was pleased to the fact he bought more then contacted me when he changed the livery.
I think if anyone else asks a driver its upto them how many people they let do their model
With regards to PJ I was miffed at him at the time, but he did his one I did the other and knew mine was correct and mentioned that to him.
I just think its out of courtesy to ask a drivers permission if you want to make their model
Thats my view
