Coleman M3 Empty Coleman M3

Post  JOB Wed Sep 04, 2013 7:38 pm

I am opening a thread for the Coleman M3 here as Piotr in Poland has agreed to do it. Very Happy You will recall that this was the proposed forum model but model builders were understandably slow to take it on. Shocked  Piotr may be able to flog a few Marc Duez COI cars into the French and/or Belgian market using the same base.Cool

Piotr asked which of the three Coleman M3's I wanted and I said yes. Twisted Evil So hopefully we will get all three for the diehard Rothmans collectors ( sorry that should be singular) and the diehard Coleman collectors ( probably plural).Rolling Eyes

What I find very interesting is that early this year there was a huge glut of new models proposed and what seemed to be a mad scramble to claim new cars as they appeared and in the past few months the whole place has gone deathly silent. Sad I am working away on my wishlist - problem is I am adding at one end while making serious inroads on getting models made at the other end.Evil or Very Mad

Carlos or JFE did decals for the Connolly car. Think the green was all decal so not sure how it sits on the car.

Looking forward to seeing the Coleman car. Hope to do my own 1/18 of it once I find a good colour match to the blue otto have used

Yes it was Carlo who made the decals for Connolly's BMW.  I have never tried to make a code 3 model myself yet, let alone take on a project as complicated as this.  Anyone I've spoken to says it's a nightmare to do. Sad

Cant imagine it being anything other than a nightmare to decal it. Painting it is the 'easier' way, but cant imagine any builder wanting to do that 20 or 30 times. Its a tough masking line to get on such a small scale

The Coleman M3 in 1/43 is a tricky one-trying to get an exact match to the blue flanks for decals to cover over the red paint boot-lid and rear panels is tricky. been trying for a while now and still cant get the match I want. Same on the 1/18. Stripping down to bare metal and resin seems like a lot of hard work.

Received message to say the first of the Coleman M3s have started production  got a photo of a part painted shell as well as a Nesbitt S9 which really don't tell a lot. Will have to wait and see which event for M3 but I have advised him to limit the run to a max of 30 for his sake and to allow scope to do the other 2 versions

Just arrived back from my travels to find the Coleman M3 on my desk , along with the Nesbitt Jim Clarke car which was done using the correct Autoart base. Beautiful model and well done to Piotr. Its been a long road when one thinks back to the voting for the "next forum model" butits great to see it eventually arrive "in the flesh". Now its a case of trying to get him to do the other two variations and maybe even the COI Duez car.
