Re: Rally Day Castle Coombe Sept 20th
[quote="6r4nicky"]Hi Guys, first time posting on here since last year. Hope everyone is well?
I can't say how pleased I am to see so many people on here are coming to Castle Combe for the event. It is shaping to be a great event.
As Steve has said I am co-ordinating the 30th anniversary of the 6R4. We are due to have over 20 6R4s on the day which will be a stunning sight. There will be a large majority of them doing the feature stage at lunch time, including me driving one of my great friends 6R4. You'll know which one I'm driving as I will be the slowest :-) lol
We have got David Llewellin and Harri Toivonen joining us, who drove the machines during 1986 in the British Open, as well as a couple of WRC events. On top of that, we have got people who played major roles in the 6R4 including John Davenport, David Wood, Wynne Mitchell etc from the ex Austin Rover Motorsport camp. We also have ex Williams GPE members who designed and built the prototype 6R4s aswell, and we might (fingers crossed) have a certain Patrick Head come along! previous 6R4 drivers and people who have played a part in the winning of the 6R4 are joining us too.
I will be in or around the 6R4.net gazebo on the day where Steve will be having his lovely display of 6R4 models on show, alongside a V62V prototype engine. Please do pop over and say hello, please mention this place though as I have got loads of people who are coming from various forums, without all the owners and ex team members coming on the day to chat to me.
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""'
Having just read this piece I think this is the correct place and with the right people on here I want to ask a question which was asked of me earlier tonight..................Would one or more of you guys know the history of E88 WWW Metro 6r4 ?????? looking forward to all the bits of info coming back to me here ?????

Are you selling up Chris? I notice you have been more active on the forum lately than in prior months? By the way, i was researching a car im looking to build for my own collection and the person i contacted mentioned you - a certain beetle driving policeman!

Re: Rally Day Castle Coombe Sept 20th
None of these are from my own collection, all stuff accumulated over years of collecting, buying & selling. Plenty more to go!!!
All request for rally models and books will be looked into!!!
Took a few months off from model cars to get other things sorted out, but just hitting the autojumble trail again, selling at Beaulieu last weekend, Rally Day and another possible one coming up
I didn't know he was a copper ...are you talking about Bob Beales in the Yellow Peril? If you have seen Bob pedalling the Beetle around at Race Retro it always looks like every wheel is about to fall off. From inside its actually cool, calm and smooth, he knows how to drive it, it feels like its floating most of the time!!

Ref Bob B....
If you see him again ask him about Longleat Historic Stages many years ago and why he broke down 3 years in a row.... just where we were marshalling!! He kept blaming me for his demise. Not my problem if a wheel came off, the brakes failed and a mechanical woe is it!!??
Cheers

Re: Rally Day Castle Coombe Sept 20th
its worth going just to see Phil Collins in his mk2 Escort.
I keep looking for a 1/43 of this car but no luck yet.
If you see a Subaru with a bright yellow inlet manifold on the South Wales Subarus stand that is mine.

I did Donegal with Phil in the said Mk2 in 2013 and sent PJ a full set of photos to get a model made. He tells me it will happen - the delay seems to be in getting base models.

Re: Rally Day Castle Coombe Sept 20th
Thanks for that, Chris.
I have a supply of flyers already, but no harm having some more.
Nicky has got a suitable plastic holder for the flyers, so they will be neatly displayed alongside my display cabinet.
Thinking of which, I replaced all of the felt yesterday, have rebuilt the lid frame after Mum accidently broke it into its constituent parts, and the new acrylic 'window' will be bonded in tonight, so long as I get to Wickes this lunchtime!!
Never a dull moment!
From what Nicky has shared with me, it WILL be a very memorable day. Just make sure your camera batteries are charged up!!
Cheers, Steve
