My GXI 9427 Collection
As most of you will know, I am building a collection of the Irish history of the BMW M3 featuring the number plate GXI 9427. Its drivers over the years are a whos who of Irish Rallying and I hope it will be the center piece of my Irish Collection.
Over the course of its ownership, it has had many different liverys, some of which have been carried across for a few events under new ownership but I plan on building the most iconic livery for each driver. I will be updating this thread with any questions I have regarding the various cars/drivers etc just to keep them all in one place.
So far, I have 2 of the 6 models complete, Billy Connollys and Denis Cronins. Next model on the list is Billy Colemans. From what I can see, he mainly drove ADZ in 87, so what events did he drive GXI on? I had thought it was the Cork 20, but any other events where he might have finished etc

Re: My GXI 9427 Collection
Billy drove the BMW on three events in 1987 - Circuit GXI 9427, Donegal ADZ 9596 and Cork 20 ADZ 9667
GXI 9427 was later driven (RHD) in Ireland by Bertie Fisher, Billy Connelly, Andrew Nesbitt and Denis Cronin (this is where GXI is now)
Don't know any more than that.
modele-sklep has done the Circuit version and is currently building the Cork 20 version as stated on the forum.
ADZ 9667 was later drived by Austin MacHale (RHD)

Re: My GXI 9427 Collection
Thanks guys, COI it is then. He had no luck in that car at all so it seems his few stages in the car on the COI is the best result he had. Theres very few decals on the car so should be a quick build
These will be all 1/18s, should have mentioned that in the top post. Do you have a RAL code for the blue you have used? The blue used on the Otto car is far too dark for my liking
Eugene Meeghan had the car between Nesbitt and Cronin but only did a few events in the car.

I agree with you Brian - The OTTO blue looks way too dark. I would say the same about the SunStar McRae Metro.
Just looking at a RAL swatch here - I would say colour RAL 5002 would be very close (but I'm open to correction!!)

Ah here Rory, let me get the Irish cars done first. Once these are done Ill see how I feel. Could be sick of looking at M3s by then.

Re: My GXI 9427 Collection
Cheers lads. Ill see what else I can get my hands on. Its tough to get a good match as you cant really go by the paint can. This colour was look a lot darker on the can but on the spoons where you can see the curves, it does look much too warm a blue

Brian - do you think the 1/43 scale colour used by modele-sklep looks right? If yes, he will probably tell you what colour he used.

Hopefully he will let me know the colour he used.
What are your opinions on Tamiya TS 15. Seems to be darker than my original test

Re: My GXI 9427 Collection
Bought a can of TS 15 from an Irish online shop yesterday morning (IDModels for those looking for Tamiya Paint in Ireland) and it arrived today. Very quick service so will be buying from them again.
Unfortunatley TS15 is further away than my last test. Ive raided my stash of spray paint cans for blues and found a couple. So hopefully one will be close. Ive had a look at piotrs colour and I dont think it will work on the 1/18.
Ive got most of the artwork ready for this car now. Its such a pity Ottos model is too dark as nearly all the logos are the same from the Beguin car.
