Re: Cork 20 & JOB
Thanks Ted for doing what you do - without the medical support we could not race. Unfortunately our rally ended on top of a bank on stage 11. New brake pads were snatching and a delay at the stage start meant the hard compound tyres were cold. Half mile into the stage the car took off while braking for a downhill 90 right on gravel. We got a third of the way round the bend ending up on top of the hedge balancing quite precariously - my front corner stopped by a small tree. We were extremely lucky as there was a 10 foot drop on Roys side. We needed two jeeps to get it off the bank- one to pull it backwards off the bank and the second one tied to my front wheel to keep it from toppling the 10 foot into the drain.
Once back on the road the car drove out of the stage with no ill effects.
Great days test yesterday . Awesome machine. next day out will be the last round of the National Championship in Bantry later this month.
Met Juha on a few occasions over the weekend - demanding and challenging stages but not that many photogenic locations.

Cheers, James. I'll echo Niall's sentiments and it's good to know all is well with the crew, and the car. Best of luck at the Fastnet.

Hard luck the weekend James. Just thinking there about all the cars that you have sat in throughout the years. Most of them were the most modern available when they arrived on these shores.

Yes, please move the rally back to Millstreet as long as I'm not out there codriving.JOB wrote:Met Juha on a few occasions over the weekend - demanding and challenging stages but not that many photogenic locations.
A recce of the stages would have helped but my flight arrived at 6pm on Friday so no hope of that happening. For next year I can hopefully use 2015 incar to have at least some form of preparation.

Thanks to Donie and his family for the weekend!

Excellent photos as usual Juha. As a competitor the stages were extremely challenging but from a photographers point of view they lack the character of territory further west. One thing I have noticed is the photographers are now travelling in a pack and so there are multiple shots from the same locations - not saying you should all split up but there was a sea of pink bibs at the hairpin on the first stage.

There aren't many access roads, so we tend to gather at the few spots that will work for us. I did try to go to that hairpin you told me on Sunday, but we weren't allowed to stand anywhere and went elsewhere.

Re: Cork 20 & JOB
Great photos Juha.
I hope Roy can write off some of the cost of the new car as advertising for his business. I cant remember the last time a car was all over my facebook page as much as the new Fiesta has been. Not even Declan Boyles car and there was a fairly major fuss created over that.
Great to see though. Its been the reason for a lot of the top cars we have had in Ireland over the years. A successful business man who enjoys his rallying driving top of the range cars. Long may it continue

Thanks guys!
Niall, I get a lot of practice lately.
It was nice to meet you. I think I have a photo of you and Donagh kelly after the podium, I'll send it to you later today.

You got me there Juha, as Donagh did with the champagne. Your photos of Irish rallying are top class and different, great credit to you. Hope we'll see you over hear in the not too distant future again. Thanks for the photo.
