Otto Porsche 911
Does anyone have an Otto Rothmans Porsche 911?
Are the Rothmans decals with the model?
How easy would it be to remove the door, bonnet & boot rally plates.
Thanks
Chris

Yes the Rothmans decals are included (under the model). The front rally plate could be removed with fingernails. The door and rear plates go over the red and gold stripes so removing them would probably take some of the striping with it.

OK thanks for that.
So if the side stripes do come off with the door plate, putting a new door plate on would be OK.
Many thanks
Cheers

If its like the Otto M3, there are no stripes underneath the door plates/event plates. If the doorplates are in the same position your fine, but if the new doorplates are smaller/in a different position, then you would either have to make new stripes and match the originals or remove and make entirely new stripes.

OK.
The rally plate on the rear is part of the red and gold decal-you would need to take a blade and slice down each side of the rally plate so as to not remove the red and gold decals-I didn't do this clearly! You will need to remove the rear spoiler to get to the decal which can only be done by undoing the screws holding it on. The inner tub is held in place by thick glue and the tub is fragile-it will break if you are not careful. I think if you leave the model sitting on a radiator the heat will soften the glue. You could soak it in warm water but you risk softening the decals too!
The door plates come off with a fingernail- Left side done this way. I tried to use warm water on the right side and the decal pulled the stripes. Luckily I had cut the decals before removal. If you are careful it's possible to get it off without damaging the red and gold decals using fingernail.
Bonnet plate comes off by scraping with a finger nail or soaking off. Sellotape will also take it off quickly. I have a set of 1/18 Decals bought online and I also might be able to print up repair decals on the OKI 5000

I bought them off this site: http://ffsmc-productions.com/en/24-118-scale
Just so you know the decals do not come with gold stripe-more light brown. I have an OKI/Alps printer and am going to try to print up suitable patch decals for the damaged areas. I can print gold decals I think-I have the ribbons but have never tried it.

Re: Otto Porsche 911
Its the same as the rothmans M3 where the stripes dont go under the plates.
On my coleman and cronin m3s, I have used gold bare metal foil cut to around 1mm. As id never be able to match the gold by getting them printed, I replaced the whole lot

The trick ive used in similar situations is to photograph the stripes and then print them. It takes a fair amount of goes to get the colours when printed to match exactly but ive found this the best approach for small patching jobs.

Re: Otto Porsche 911
the french guy has precise and correct decals but not the quality....'
I have a set of his decals and an Autoart 911 to replicate the rothmans car but not sure if I am satisfied with the quality of those decals to start the project....
might mix up with some paint and other stripe decals, rothmans decals from other companies and use some of his rally plates etc....
