Cheers! Beauty of the show is that cars you never really thought that you would get to see in action turn up like the Astra 4S a couple of years ago. This has always been my favourite Escort though as can remember seeing the pic in Motoring News of Russell at Sartfield hairpin when he won the Manx and was blown away by the fat blue Minilites and just the look of the thing!

Re: Race Retro 2017
Hi Guys,
Not been here since coming back from the show, so my belated (public) thanks to Chris for pulling the whole thing together, puttingup with us up for the three nights, and still managing to laugh and smile despite the best efforts of the new organisers to confuddle us all! Oh, and congrats on the fabulous Mcrae display too!
Paul's Le Manscoffin display was superb - a lovely balance of fabulous models, beautiful diorama and information.
David's Tony Pind Tribute demonstrated much blood, sweat and tears (and not just in the last few days!!!) and was worthy of the great man himself. A brilliant variety of familiar and less familiar vehicles the much-missed Manx man had peddled and fettled over his career. Congrats, David and I can't wait to see the much-anticipated addition being towed into place in the future!
Was great to have Dave C with us too - what he lacked in a display he more than made up for on amazing detail of cars and rallies he surely wouldn't have been old enough to have seen himself!! Looking forward to your display next year, Dave.
I realised early on that celebrating 50 years of rallycross by placing over 50 rallycross cars, with labels, photos and memorabilia (oh, and two Leyland Sherpa Rally Tenders) was probably a bit too much for the one cabinet. Good job I now have another!
Great meeting some of the Forum regulars including David and Mark, too.
Can't wait for the next one!!
Cheers, Steve

Re: Race Retro 2017
A belated congratulations to everyone involved in the displays this year, a real credit to all of you - as they are every year . It was great to meet up with some familiar faces again and, for my first visit on a Sunday, it was really good to meet up with Steve and reminisce over some of the old days of rallycross - my particular favourite being the Roger Newbould Renault 5, what a car! Roll on next year's show

Re: Race Retro 2017
Thanks Burnsy, and you're not wrong. Those were fabulous days and whilst they'll never be the same again, at least we do have the retro Rallycross Championship gaining pace, with more new old cars coming back, others being worked on and not ready yet, plus there's the Martin Schanche Trophy for Group B cars in the UK and Europe. (Was that a suitable post-Brexit way of putting it?! )
Yippee! Can't wait!! First round of the 2017b season just a week or so away! 18th March, Croft Circuit!
Let the good times roll (in the mud and on tarmac!)!
Cheers, Steve
