2018 Millstreet Vintage Club Model Toy and Diorama Show Oct 14th
Millstreet Vintage Club are hosting their fourth annual Model Toy and Diorama Show on Oct 14th 2018.
Always a great show and with a tons of unique and rare models on display. Who knows what people find in their collections when they go looking for models to show.
Also a great time to meet up with other forum members. While its still 10 months away, its a great time to start planning for this show. Im sure Donie can provide a list of local B&Bs for anyone traveling down.
For me, its a great deadline to try get some new models finished on time to show

Anything in particular you want to know Rory ? Donie is away for a few days. To the best of my knowledge it is "all systems go" for the event and all forum members are more than welcome. The venue is rural but is only 10 mins drive from Millstreet town, 20 mins from Mallow town and 30 mins from Killarney , all of which have plentiful accommodation at rates to suit all pockets.
It is less than 10 mins drive from both Banteer and Millstreet railway stations and while I don't want to speak out of turn, but if rail is your preferred mode of transport, then I suspect the club won't be found wanting, to facilitate the final leg of your journey to the venue.

Greetings RORY !!!!!How are you ???? AS James was saying it is all systems GO!!!!!!!! Hope it will be bigger and better than previous years !!!!! IF you wish to shoot down to us we would be delighted to meet & greet you and any other members of DRM ......Travelling by Rail is not an issue as we can have you picked up in Banteer or Millstreet if you so wish.................SAME goes for any other members that want to visit...............OUTSIDE of this Model Show it would be great for as many members of DRM to meet up once every year !!!!!!RORY O CONNOR wrote:Any further news on this?

Re: 2018 Millstreet Vintage Club Model Toy and Diorama Show Oct 14th
Folks, Ye missed a cracker of a show. Huge credit and thanks to Donie and pretty much his entire family for a superb show with incredible variety. I was late arriving and late leaving and didn't bring a camera. The thought and preparation put into the displays by Ted,David, Brian,Sean,Donie himself and a host of others was truly superb. My bacon was saved by the quality of the workmanship that others put into the models I had and those people know who they are. The hospitality (i.e. grub) afforded to all the exhibitors was outstanding and is like nothing I have seen elsewhere.
I promise to take a few photos of the models others made for me and "broke cover" at the show. We now have 2 Russell Brookes Mk 1 Escorts, The Owen Murphy Roger Albert Clark Lotus Sunbeam and two absolute stars - the Fisher Bedford CF service van and the Rosemary Smith Jag XJS Irish Landspeed record car. I know the latter isn't a rallycar but it is a work of art.
Well done again Donie and well done to fellow forum members for the work in not only making the models but presenting the collections in a professional manner. I will try to "lift" a few photos from Facebook.

Indeed well done to Donie & the Vintage club for a fairly packed event - I think the only unused space was the toilet!!! Six rooms with multiple displays in each - plenty of coffee, cakes & sambos and even a hot breakfast. As usual, good to meet up with the lads from the forum, and others. Roll on 2019!.
Looking forward to the Gartrac Escort finished product - no pressure, Sean
Brian's 1/18 McHale Toyota
James' 'big' Peugeot!

A massive congratulations to Donie & team for a spectacular event. It was only my 2nd time displaying at a show( the first time was a week previous) where before hand Donie gave me kick up the backside to get out and display. I was very green in some aspects in Millsrteet but got some great ideas from people and couldnt get over how so helpful fellow model enthusiasts were on the day. A big thank you to Brian for loaning me his Fisher pictures, Ted for his display box and to James for his Fisher service van and trailer- what a sight to see infront of Bertie's cars!!, & afew of Andrews cars to bulk up my Nesbitt display. Also thanks to Donie for his display turning tables on the day, im not sure how he thinks of everything while he takes it all in his stride. Looking forward to next year already.

Thank you to everybody who Displayed their models ....looked after mine......due to the vast amount of work involved in putting this show together as you can see i failed miserably in getting on this forum with updates which i should have done.........i am delighted with the show itself and the crowd who attended ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I must now admit that i have seen more of what was on display here on this Forum than i did on the day of the show.................so special thank you to whoever took these photos and put them up here.....................

I await an answer????????? Who can do this for me ????? i can get permission from who ever took the photos !!!!!
Again thank you all so so so much !!!!! and i hope you all enjoyed the day and those that did not attend will put it on your diarys for 2019...................Donie

Re: 2018 Millstreet Vintage Club Model Toy and Diorama Show Oct 14th
Finally getting back to normal after the show. Was Thursday before I got a change to empty the car!
Yet another great show by the Millstreet club. Huge thanks to Donie and family for the warm welcome, the endless offers of tea, the fantastic breakfast the morning of the show (the puddings were unreal) and for all the time end effort they put into getting everything set up. How they did all this with very little sleep on Saturday is incredible.
Was great meeting up with forum members and seeing some fantastic models for the first time as well as getting ideas around displaying them. Will be along later to post some of my photos. Roll on 2019!
